Users & Permissions overview
The Spixii CPA Platform is designed to enhance collaboration whilst keeping highest security standards.
To make this possible, the CPA platform is based on a fine-grained access control (FGAC) framework to guarantee security at a granular data level. Each data item has its own access control policy with fully customisable access to it.
Such a strategy empowers insurers to control and set different data access for their employees or third party companies according to their function and their level of responsibility. More details on how Spixii is ensuring data compliance available here.
The CPA platform has three types of users: Viewer
, Editor
and Administrator
.
Viewer The most restricted role with limited access to the platform. It has permissions for read-only actions that do not affect state, such as viewing (but not modifying) existing resources or data and making comments on the conversational processes.
Editor
This role features all Viewer
permissions, plus permissions for actions that modify state, such as creating and changing conversational processes in the Build module or creating or modifying chatbot templates available in the Display module.
Administrator
The user with complete control over the platform, which means all Editor
permissions plus ability to manage projects and platform users.
For each of the above users, permissions over specific actions can be defined and customised at a granular level with 3 different types of access control:
Not visible
, to hide information and resources for selected the userVisible only
, to limit editing capabilitiesActionable
, to unlock editing capabilities
How to invite new users
To invite a new user, click on user icon the at the top-right of the CPA platform and select the Manage users item from the menu list.
A window with the list of the current users will appear.
Next, click on the Invite more peopleā¦
button. A new window will appear.
Finally, specify the email address of the person you want to invite to your Workspace.
An invitation email will be automatically sent to the specified email address with an activation link. Through the activation link, the user will be able to set a new personal password to access the CPA platform.
After activating the account, the new user will be able to access your Workspace.
How to change user permissions
The Permissions controller allows changing access to specific actions with 3 different types of access control:
Not visible
, to hide information and resources for the selected userVisible only
, to limit editing capabilitiesActionable
, to unlock editing capabilities
All actions are organised in the main platform modules:
- Account Manager
- Workspace Module
- Build Module
- Display Module
- Data Module
Actions are then further organised in sub-modules and grouped in categories. For example, in the Build module
, sub-module Commenting
, we have the category Manage comments
, with all the single actions nested underneath.
This means that permission can be set in bulk per grouped category, or one by one per single action item.
When assigning a new type of permission to a category, all the nested elements underneath will inherit the same access type. For example, if I assign to the category Manage comments
the permission type Actionable
, all the items below will be set to Actionable
.
If then I want to change a particular action nested within a category group, after selecting a type of access different from the category group one, the permission type reported for the category group will change to Custom
.
How to upgrade users
All user accounts can be upgraded (or downgraded) from one role to another to expand (or limit) access to platform features.
In the Spixii CPA platform, the 3 types of users (Viewer
, Editor
and Administrator
) are coming with default permissions. Therefore, when upgrading a user (for example from Viewer
to Editor
), the following two options will be available:
Use default permissions
, to change permissions according to the default permissions for that role.Keep custom permissions
, to change permissions of a user whilst maintaining custom permission previously set.
The same logic applies when a user is downgraded (for example from Editor
to Viewer
).
How to retrieve password
It can happen to forget the password once set for the login to the CPA platform. In such case, click the Forgot password? Button below the Login button.
After clicking, a panel will appear to allow the password recovery.
The user will be asked to enter the email address used in first place (the one where the invite to the platform was sent to). A new email will be sent to the specified email address with a unique link to set a new password.
